WORKING TOGETHER TO BUILD YOUR

Resiliance

ABOUT ME

Hi,

As a brief introduction to me I thought I would explain how I ‘got into’ counselling.

I have worked in and around education for the last 15 years; spending time with children who needed ‘that little bit more’, and before that with adults who were struggling with life’s common problems - bereavement, relationships, stress… and found myself trying to listen whilst not giving advice - it was their life not mine.

After studying to become a teacher and gaining my BA, I was introduced to person centred counselling and discovered this was the path I was meant to take. As a result I have qualified as a counsellor for both adults and children.

I am member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists).

How I Can Help You

Clients

I work with adults, using a person centred approach where you decide what we talk about; emotions, agendas and can use CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) for the short term. Being person centred, means that i believe in an equal relationship, between therapist and client, and that we will work together, with empathy, and a non judgmental approach, with a genuine wish to build your resilience. I believe that everyone has their own answers, but may need some help in finding them. (Short and long term work is available.) With children, I use child centred play therapy, where children explore their issues through play.

Area's I work with:

  • Stress

  • Depression

  • Addiction

  • Abuse

  • Anxiety

  • Low self esteem

  • Low self confidence

Thank you for helping with Nana that she died. You are a star. I was scared at first, because i was not used to talking to someone i did not know. After a couple of sessions i got used to it. I'm confident to talk to Jan and let out emotions.

Jan is probably one of the most welcoming and calming people I've ever met. She made it beyond easy to talk about anything and everything. I'd had counselling before, but for many reasons it didn't suit. Naturally, I was nervous trying again but Jan really proved I needn't have been! Her level of understanding and empathy was refreshing and needed. The lack of pressure, the level of support and the tissues are just some of the reasons I would highly recommend Jan. She has helped me lead a happier and healthier life.
