WORKING TOGETHER TO BUILD YOUR
As a brief introduction to me I thought I would explain how I ‘got into’ counselling.
I have worked in and around education for the last 15 years; spending time with children who needed ‘that little bit more’, and before that with adults who were struggling with life’s common problems - bereavement, relationships, stress… and found myself trying to listen whilst not giving advice - it was their life not mine.
After studying to become a teacher and gaining my BA, I was introduced to person centred counselling and discovered this was the path I was meant to take. As a result I have qualified as a counsellor for both adults and children.
I am member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists).
How I Can Help You
I work with adults, using a person centred approach where you decide what we talk about; emotions, agendas and can use CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) for the short term. Being person centred, means that i believe in an equal relationship, between therapist and client, and that we will work together, with empathy, and a non judgmental approach, with a genuine wish to build your resilience. I believe that everyone has their own answers, but may need some help in finding them. (Short and long term work is available.) With children, I use child centred play therapy, where children explore their issues through play.
Area's I work with:
Low self esteem
Low self confidence
